Our motorcycle community website address is: https://throttleandchrome.bike
When riders leave comments in our pit stop forum, we collect the data shown in the comments form, plus your IP address and browser type to help prevent spam - like checking tire pressure before a long ride.
An anonymized version of your email may be sent to Gravatar to see if you have a profile picture. After we approve your comment, your profile picture (if available) will be visible to others in our biker community.
If you upload photos of your motorcycle, avoid images with embedded GPS data (EXIF). Other riders could potentially download and see where that sweet photo of your bike was taken - and we don't want anyone tracking your favorite riding spots.
Leave a comment and you can opt to save your name, email and website in cookies - like leaving your helmet on the seat so you don't have to put it on again for quick stops. These last one year.
If you have an account and login, we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts them - like kicking the tires before a ride. This contains no personal data and disappears when you close your browser.
When you login, we set cookies to remember your details and display preferences. Login cookies last two days, display cookies a year. Choose "Remember Me" and your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies like wiping down your bike after a ride.
If you edit or publish a ride review, we save an additional cookie with just the post ID - like marking your spot in the garage. This expires after 1 day.
Our articles may include embedded content from other motorcycle sites (videos, specs, reviews etc.). This content behaves exactly as if you visited those other sites - like when you follow a buddy to another bike meet.
These sites may collect data, use cookies, and track your interaction with their content, especially if you're logged into that site - so keep your visor down when riding unfamiliar roads.
Comments and their metadata stay indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-ups automatically - like remembering a riding buddy's bike specs.
For registered riders, we store your provided information in your profile. You can see, edit, or delete most info anytime (except your username). Site mechanics (admins) can also see and edit this info when tuning the engine.
If you have an account or left comments, you can request a file of the personal data we hold about you - your riding history with us. You can also request we erase this data, except what we must keep for legal or security reasons - like keeping records of warranty work.
Comments may be checked by an automated spam detection service - think of it like a bike wash for shady characters.
